Principal Welcome
BANB7 is a child centred, technology rich, 21st century learning environment which provides, care, education and health services.
Our high quality, dedicated staff believe all children are competent, are rich in potential and re-present their learning in many ways. We are committed to delivering a curriculum that fosters discovery, inquiry, creativity and curiosity for all learners at any time, within and beyond the school environment. Children have many opportunities to become independent learners at BANB7 through learning how to learn and developing planning and communication skills while interacting successfully locally and globally.
As a community we have developed the Capabilities and Dispositions we want of our children. As a staff we have developed 6 Principles for Effective Learning that will drive all the work that we will do.
The new school design has enabled us to challenge traditional thinking about school and the learning environment. Innovation, risk taking and improved learning outcomes are key words for us. Our teachers are called ‘Learning Advisors’, our buildings are known as ‘Neighbourhoods’, our classrooms are ‘Studio’s’ and classes are ‘Home Groups’.
The flexible learning spaces, which are technology rich, have been developed to provide learning experiences for the differing needs of children. We believe in 21st century learning that connects children with real world experiences to improve their literacy and numeracy. For example: Our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, TV Studio and Radio Station. We are working with our children on ECO Literacy in our undeveloped areas to create a forest area and a wetland area.
With such cultural diversity at BANB7 our specialist programs of Music, Visual Arts and Physical Education enables all our children to express themselves in a range of ways.
Our Children’s Centre is a place of engagement, learning and care for children and families from birth to 5 years, which offers a range of services and programs. We are an outreach of the very successful and well known Learning Together Program. Our Community Development Co-ordinator and Family Services
Co-ordinator have commenced and will develop programs and services in response to community needs and aspiration.
