World Teachers’ day
On this World Teachers’ Day, I would like to acknowledge our wonderful teaching staff here at Warradale Primary. In 2020, the theme of the day is “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”. This theme certainly rings true for us here at Warradale, given the way all of our teachers have continued to support our students to develop skills that will help them shape their own futures, whilst leading our school community through the challenges of a pandemic. 2021 class placement
To assist us with our class placement process, please let us know if your children will not be attending Warradale Primary School in 2021. We are still working through the data entry and class structuring process, but hope to commence provisional class construction over the next fortnight. We do have a number of teaching positions yet to be finalised due to centralised placement processes and our enrolment numbers are continuing to grow.
Nature play education
Next week, all classes and their teachers will participate in a learning session with an outdoor educator in our new nature play space on the western oval. The focus will be on upskilling our students to engage in safe and creative nature play, whilst looking after the natural environment and natural resources available.
60th birthday celebration
Thank you to everyone who helped make our school’s 60th birthday celebration last Thursday evening an amazing success. Special thanks to the parent committee that worked with our Deputy Sarah French and staff to pull the evening together, and of course the students, whose creativity and skill was on display for all to enjoy and celebrate as part of the birthday art exhibition. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, not only were we able to offer those in attendance an amazing selection of food and activities, we were also able to raise valuable funds to support a range of learning programs and initiatives at the school. As Principal, words cannot describe the pride and gratitude I felt watching so many staff, students and families – past and present – enjoy each other’s company and cultures.
Swimming (R-5) and aquatics
A reminder that our Reception to year 5 students will be participating in the annual water safety program at the Marion Outdoor Pool in week 5. Year 6/7 students will be involved in their aquatics program on Friday of week 5. For younger children, practice getting in and out of swimming attire and turning clothes inside out at home is a great way to prepare them for the week. With the UV index on the rise it’s also important that students are sun safe during these outdoor activities, so please ensure they have appropriate sun protection, including a wide-brimmed or legionnaires hat.
School pride
Please continue to support your children to look after our school and represent it with pride. Wearing school uniform, caring for our school grounds and local environment (eg. picking up litter and closing gates), talking positively about our great school and generally modelling our school values of caring, courage, courtesy, responsibility and respect are all important ingredients in maintaining a safe and welcoming school community for us all to enjoy and thrive in.
